Sponsor of Last Descent and Garbage Warrior

Every year I return to the film fest for a number of good reasons: It’s a great excuse to visit Murphys and the surrounding area and enjoy the fall as it sets in. The films I sponsored this year both involve travel around the world and a window to new cultures, places, and people. I am always curious about what people out there think or do (it’s an occupational hazard) and I hope the films will add another perspective for both myself and for the viewers.

Sponsor of Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk.

O.A.R.S. is pleased sponsor MacGillivray Freeman Films production of Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk. The film, presented by Teva and supported by Kohler Co., premiered on World Water Day, 2008 in IMAX Theatres worldwide. The movie chronicles environmental heroes Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.and Wade Davis, along with their daughters, as they journey down the ColoradoRiver to raise awareness about the world’s growing shortage of fresh water. O.A.R.S. provided production support as well as promotional support for the film.

Nearly four decades have passed since a whitewater rafting trip through the Grand Canyon captured the imagination of O.A.R.S. president and founder, George Wendt. His journey inspired him to establish the first exclusively oar-powered rafting outfitter permitted to run the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon back in 1969. Based in Angels Camp, the company is now the largest and most geographically diverse river outfitter in the West. To date O.A.R.S. has positively affected the lives of over 500,000 travelers and in 2008 and 2009 the company was recognized by National Geographic Adventure as “The Best River & Sea Outfitter on Earth” based on education, sustainability, quality of service, spirit of adventure and references.
